Eating Disorder & Disordered Eating Work

I specialize in working with clients for whom disordered eating is connected to control, perfectionism, and emotional constraint. Rather than focusing solely on behaviors, my work addresses the underlying patterns that maintain eating disorders — including rigidity, rule-governed living, difficulty receiving care, and fear of emotional exposure.

Using an RO-DBT-informed lens, therapy supports clients in building psychological flexibility, embodied awareness, and connection, while gently challenging the belief that control is the only path to safety or worth.

This work is nuanced, relational, and values-driven — and often involves collaboration with dietitians or other providers when appropriate and with consent.

My Clinical Approach

My primary clinical framework is Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), an evidence-based treatment designed for individuals who struggle with overcontrol. RO-DBT focuses on increasing openness, emotional expression, social signaling, and genuine connection — skills that are often underdeveloped in people who have learned to rely on control to stay safe.

I also integrate trauma-informed stabilization and nervous-system-aware interventions to ensure that change happens at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. Rather than asking clients to “let go” of control prematurely, we work to understand why control developed, what it has protected, and how to build trust in new ways of relating to emotions, relationships, and the body.

Therapy with me is collaborative, structured, and deeply respectful of the intelligence and effort clients already bring to their lives.

LPC Associate

Supervised by Marshia Allen, PsyD, RPT, LPC-S

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who works with adolescents and young adults who feel stuck in patterns of overcontrol — perfectionism, emotional inhibition, rigidity, and self-criticism — even when they’re doing “everything right” on the outside.

Many of the clients I work with are high-achieving, thoughtful, and deeply self-aware, yet feel disconnected from themselves, others, or their own sense of ease. Some struggle with disordered eating, chronic stress, burnout, or a persistent sense that rest, softness, or vulnerability feel unsafe.

My work is centered on helping clients move toward flexibility, connection, and vitality, rather than simply learning how to cope or push through. This means shifting away from survival-based strategies rooted in control and toward ways of living that allow for spontaneity, emotional expression, and genuine connection with others. Therapy focuses not only on reducing distress, but on building a life that feels more open, meaningful, and alive — one where clients can experience both competence and ease.
